Forte dei Marmi

Jewel of the Versilia, Forte dei Marmi, also known only as “il Forte”, is a popular seaside resort known and appreciated in Italy and abroad. In particular in recent years there has been the presence of many vacationers from Russia.

The main characteristic of the town, which makes it stand out among the other locations of the Versilia coast, is the particular elegance of the public buildings, the houses and streets of the center. Starting from the central Piazza Garibaldi, overlooked by the ancient Fortino, inside which is now the Museum of Satire and Caricature, are meet in fact small fashion boutiques, refined displays of big international fashion brand, delicious outdoor restaurants and pine forests well maintained and equipped for the entertainment of kids and adults. Moving through the central streets and along the waterfront is easy on foot or by bike, especially the latter is perhaps the only one that allows to enjoy the best of artistic, architectural and natural beautyness that Forte offers to residents and vacationers. Along the promenade runs an uninterrupted bike lane, with special road signs, making it safe and easy get to the sea.

Although the golden moment of Forte dei Marmi was the period between the ’60s and’ 70s, the city remained a fixed in the italian tourism scene. Its success is due to the continued attention and the extreme care of the wide sandy beaches and the presence of numerous historical evening clubs that always liven up the summer nights in Versilia: Twiga Beach Club and La Capannina di Franceschi are places frequented even by famous characters from the world of entertainment or sport. Not far away is also La Bussola, performed in this disco many artists from around the world, including Ray Charles, Fabrizio De Andrè, Ella Fitzgerald, Juliette Greco, Adriano Celentano, the Platters and Mina.
